British Energy Policy - After the White paper and the September package
5th November 2007 presentation
There have been major statements on energy policy in Britain (the White Paper) and Europe (culminating in the September package), and prospective legislation in both domains. The presentation will take stock of the current position, and consider how the major policy objectives on climate change, security of supply and competition may be taken forward. Issues covered also include: Gazprom's conduct, long term contracts and asset acquisition; unbundling; proposals for European regulation; the renewables target; and nuclear and carbon sequestration options. Particular attention is paid to the three energy related bills in the draft Queen's Speech - on climate change, planning and energy.
